The Permanent Secretary of the Ekiti State Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism, Mrs. Adekunbi Obaisi has stressed the importance of
dancing and other cultural activities to the well-being of the people.
Making the assertion in Ado-Ekiti at the annual cast-party organised by the State Department of Culture, Mrs. Obaisi noted that dancing and other cultural activities make people cheerful and healthy as they pass out toxic waste during the exercise.
Mrs Obaisi expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity given her to serve in the Ministry and assured that she would do her best to
achieve optimum performance of the workforce while at the same time improve their lots.
The highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of award to the immediate past Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. David Ayotunde Akinola, in recognition of his immense contribution to the promotion of Ekiti State Cultural Heritage as the pioneer Permanent Secretary and Mr. Roland Adeyinka Ayedun in recognition of his meritorious service to the growth of the Department of culture.
The Director of Culture, Mr. Yomi Longe described the event as the period to celebrate excellence and stewardship, saying it is the
coming together of the artists to access the previous year’s activities.
In his remarks, the Director of General Publication in the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Kunle Olofin gave kudos to
the state cultural troupe for their commitment to duty and tenacity of purpose, describing them as second to none.
Responding on behalf of the award recipients, Mr. Akinola ascribed his success to God and the cooperation he received from the staffers of the ministry.
Describing the state cultural troupe as wonderful, he called on the entire members of staff to develop themselves academically and to work hard to attain success in life.
