Three Hundred and Eight three (383) workers will benefit from the newly re-invigorated Local Government workers loans scheme as
disbursement has been scheduled to commence on Friday January 25, 2013.
The Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Chief Ranti Adebisi disclosed this during a meeting in Ado-Ekiti with the
executive members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ekiti State Chapter.
According to Chief Adebisi, a sum of N121, 150,000 has been approved by the state government to cater for the beneficiaries of the first phase of the disbursement.
The Commission Chairman who said a seminar would be organised for the workers on loan management in order to educate them on how best to make use of the loans to improve their standard of living, said 192 local government workers would benefit from the housing loan scheme while 191 would benefit from the car loan scheme.
He also promised to embark on familiarisation tour to all the 16 Local Government Areas in order to know their challenges and proffer solutions to them.
Adebisi added that the moribund departments like works and mechanics workshop would be revived, promising a better working relationship with the Local Government Services Commission Board and NULGE.
Responding, the NULGE President of the Ekiti State Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employee, Comrade Dele Ajayi expressed appreciation to the Chairman for the magnitude of recognition given to the Union and pledged on behalf of all Local
Government workers to reciprocate government’s good gesture by living up to their responsibilities and working assiduously to ensure the successful implementation of government’s policies.
