Fayemi Reads Riot Act To Newly Reconstituted LG Chairmen

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi (R); with a Cross-Section of Newly Appointed Caretaker Chairmen in Ekiti state, during the Swearing-in Ceremony, in Ado-Ekiti.

Any of the newly appointed Caretaker chairmen in Ekiti State who fails to reside in his local government during the six months of their tenure risks being sacked.

The State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, gave the warning during the swearing-in ceremony of the council bosses in Ado-Ekiti on Friday; saying that they are expected to be resident in their respective local government areas and give attention to the people whom they are appointed to serve.

Dr. Fayemi who stated that it is now an offence for any council boss to reside permanently in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, hinted that he might pay them an impromptu visit at any day of the week and any time of the day, adding that anyone found wanting would be dismissed.
He charged the new council bosses to collaborate with traditional rulers and the citizenry in order to achieve good governance.

While reiterating the aversion of his administration to corruption,  the Governor stressed that government would not hesitate to prosecute any public office holder caught in fraudulent practices.
Dr. Fayemi urged them to give priority attention to the welfare of the citizens and curb activities of marauders in their domains, by working with the relevant security agencies as well as the newly established Peace Corps.

The Governor stressed the need to fast-track the socio-economic transformation of the communities through purposeful leadership; adding that they should have inputs in the preparation of the local government’s version of the. Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
On infrastructure development, Fayemi announced that the Second phase of the construction of 5km roads would soon begin across the state even as he emphasized the need to complete the first phase in any local government area where such is yet to be completed.

In his remarks,  the Caretaker Chairman of Efon Local Government, Dr Adio Folayan promised that the new council helmsmen, would embark on projects that will bring about physical and economic development.
Folayan added that transformational leadership is about making the Future possible and assured that they would work to actualise the 8-point agenda of the Fayemi-led Administration.
