Attorney General Calls For An End To Abuse Against Women

Ekiti State Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Olawale Fapohunda has joined in the call for an end to abuse against women.
A statement from the office of the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General solicited for support of all stakeholders for government’s efforts at protecting women against violence.

According to the statement, women have been subjected to harmful traditional practices, sexual violence, and dehumanizing domestic violence, adding that it is time to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arenas.
The statement mentioned some of the historical factors that have negative impact against women to include, religious practices, cultural beliefs and implementation of economic exploitative policies.
The International Women’s Day is a time to encourage women who have played extraordinary roles in the history of their countries and communities.
