Ekiti State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Olawale Fapohunda has constituted a committee to review the activities of the Ekiti State Family Court.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Tunde OlaOlorun said that the focus of the directive is to allow for suggestions on measures to improve the family court to make it sustainable, efficient, cost-effective and responsive to those who need to access its service.
The statement added that the review would improve the court and assist it to make fair, timely and durable decisions using straight-forward processes.
According to the statement, the review is borne out of the directive of Governor Kayode Fayemi to find innovative strategies for strengthening the courts and other structures that administer justice in the state without compromising their independence.
The review committee which is expected to submit its report to the AG on Monday, March 25, 2013 has the Deputy Director in the Department of Legal Drafting of the Ministry of Justice as well as representatives of the Ado-Ekiti branch of the Nigerian Bar Association and International Federation of female lawyers as members.
