As part of efforts at ensuring proper supervision in order to achieve the desired goals of providing qualitative service delivery at the local government level, the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission has organised a one-day retreat for Local Government Senior Management Officers at the Local Government Staff Training School,
Ilawe-Ekiti.
The Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Ranti Adebisi who declared the retreat opened, explained that it would provide opportunity for participants to improve their knowledge, adding that important issues, including structure and functions of the local government, appointments, promotion and discipline of staff as well as monitoring, supervision and evaluation of personnel and projects would be discussed.
He therefore charged the participants to actively participate in the discussions in order to achieve the aims of the organisers.
In another development, the LGSC Chairman, Chief Adebisi has assured LG workers that the forthcoming promotion examination would be fair.
According to him, the questions would be set within the reading guide given to them at the workshop, stressing that the essence of the examination is to ensure that officers are not placed above their capabilities.
Responding on behalf of the participants, Mr. Yemi Oguntuase who described the workshop as the first of its kind, said the knowledge gained during the period of the workshop will improve their productivity.
Mr. Oguntuase appealed for more training workshop for other categories of workers.
