The Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo has expressed confidence that the people of the State will witness more developmental programmes within the next two years. Speaking with members of the New Initiative for Social Development, a non-Governmental organisation that visited him in his office, the Government Spokesman noted that more donor agencies have partnered with the state government following its developmental projects.
The Commissioner noted that the State government submitted itself for the Peer review Mechanism embarked upon by NEPAD because the state government had been forthright in its dealings with the masses.
The Commissioner promised the support of the Ministry in the area of information dissemination and adequate publicity for all donor agencies and Civil Society groups that are ready to partner with the State government.
Speaking earlier, the Executive Director of New Initiative for Social Development Mr. Biodun Oyeleso said that the objectives of the NGO Include Good Governance, Child rights Education and Human Development.
He stressed the need for Civil Society groups to partner with state government to ensure rapid socio-economic development rather than criticizing government’s programmes.
The NGO boss said plans are on to organise an interactive session between the various MDAS and Civil Society groups to facilitate adequate support and partnership.
He disclosed that the organisation had embarked on capacity building for the Civil Society groups in the State to ensure that interventions coming from the different donor agencies are channelled to the right directions.
