Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi; with Governor of the Central Bank, Mallam Sanusi Lamido, during a condolence visit to the Fayemis, over the demise of his Deputy, Mrs. Funmilayo Olayinka, at the Government House, Ado-Ekiti.
Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi on Sunday led some top executives of the apex bank, including Deputy Governor, (Corporate Services) Alhaji Sulaimon Barau, on a condolence visit to Governor Kayode Fayemi on the death of his Deputy, Mrs Funmi Olayinka.
The CBN Governor, who also visited the parents of the late deputy Governor, described the late Mrs Olayinka as a friend whom he had worked with in the banking industry since the 1990s; adding that she was a highly resourceful professional, patriot and a woman of integrity.
Sanusi said he was sure that Governor Fayemi found her as a right hand person especially with the level of transformation that the State has witnessed under the current administration.
“I know Funmi very well. She was a remarkably beautiful woman, whose beauty radiates from within. She was a woman of quality. She stood for high standard and I am sure that she also brought that to bear on her assignment here in Ekiti. I know the two of you had a good working relationship, which also reflect in the transformation that has taken place in the state. You are going to really miss her.
The CBN Governor, who was billed to travel for the IMF/World Bank Conference Sunday night, said he decided to visit the Governor and the parents of the deceased before embarking on the trip.
Accompanied by a Director of the CBN, Alhaji Abdullahi, the Bank’s Controller of Akure branch, Mrs Ramat Yusuf, and her Ado- Ekiti counterpart, Mr. Adetona Adedeji, Mallam Sanusi, said that the apex bank would continue to support the administration in its quest for growth.
Governor Fayemi in his remarks said the late Deputy Governor was central to the State’s economic development, having chaired the State’s Economic Management Committee as well as supervising four key ministries.
The Governor stated that Mrs. Olayinka was not a “spare tyre” that could easily be replaced, in view of her outstanding contributions to the government. He added that the community of Nigerians that have come to the State on condolence visits speaks volume about her excellent service to humanity.

Meanwhile a former Senator representing Ekiti North, Ayo Arise has described the late Deputy Governor as a good ambassador of Ekiti State.
Arise, who also paid a condolence visit to the Governor in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, said the late Olayinka was an epitome of the Ekiti values who displayed the values everywhere she went.
He said his condolence visit to the Governor means that Ekiti people are one regardless of their political affiliation and whatever happens to one is borne by others.
