Borno Governor, Lawmakers Condole With Fayemi Over Deputy’s Death

Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima on Saturday led some members of his State House of Assembly and Executive council to condole his Ekiti State counterpart, Dr Kayode Fayemi on the passing of his deputy, Mrs Funmi Olayinka.

Shettima who also came into public service from the banking sector like the late Deputy Governor, said the passing of Mrs Olayinka was not only shocking but also a great loss to politics and the banking industry.

The Governor who stressed that the death of the late Olayinka was an irreparable loss stated that the Deputy Governor had served the state well given his knowledge of her conducts at National Economic Council meetings when she stood in for Fayemi.

“Rest in perfect peace, my sister and a member of the banking  fraternity. May God grant the family, the government and the good people of Ekiti State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, he wrote.

Speaking on the development that is being witnessed in the State, Shettima said he was not surprised that the Fayemi-led administration has done creditably well because he is “one of the finest and most articulate Governors” in Nigeria.

He opined that Fayemi is one of the leaders the nation needs even as he expressed optimism that greater national duties await him since he is a man who has relationship across national divides.

“We are together, we are solidly behind you. Governor Fayemi is someone who doesn’t play to the gallery but a gentleman and one of the best hands we have in Nigeria and I believe the sky is the limit”, Shettima said.

Responding, Governor Fayemi thanked his visitors who had come from the farthest part of the country.

The Governor said his deputy was a great pillar who would be missed for her support and the central role she played in the transformation of the State.
