Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu flanked on the right by the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Mrs Taiwo Akande and on the left by Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution, Hon. Victor Ebomoyi, when members of the council paid a courtesy call on the deputy governor in her office in Ado-Ekiti.
Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu has lauded the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti for giving the students of the institution entrepreneurship trainings that will make its graduates self reliant and employers of labour after graduation.
She gave the commendation while receiving Members of the Governing Council and Management of the institution who paid a courtesy visit to her office in Ado, adding that the institution has tracks of academic excellence which made it to rank first among equals and urged the Governing Council and management of the institution to work at sustaining and even improving on the standard.
The Deputy Governor who said Governor Kayode Fayemi is very passionate about anything that has to do with acquisition of knowledge and technology development assured the Board of Directors and management of the Federal Polytechnic that the government will continue to give its support to the institution and collaborate with it in entrepreneurship development.
She also commended the institution for embarking on production of laboratory glassware, describing it as a positive development that will lead to improvement in the teaching of the sciences in schools and also reduce the money spends on importation of science and laboratory equipment by government.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado, Mr. Victor Ebomoyi said the visit was to introduce the new Members of the Governing Board of the institution to the state government as it is the custom and also to congratulate Professor Modupe Adelabu on her appointment as the Deputy Governor of the state.
Mr. Ebomoyi commended the government for its immeasurable assistance for the institution at all time and expressed the hope that the cordial relationship between the institution and the government will be sustained.
The governing Board Chairman who used the forum to inform the government that the Polytechnic has ventured into production of laboratory glassware called for the government’s patronage to encourage the institution an as well use the opportunity to further equip schools science laboratories to improve teaching of the sciences.
In her own remark, the Rector of the Federal polytechnic, Ado, Mrs. Taiwo Akande said the laboratory glassware produced by the institution is better than the imported ones because they cannot crack or break easily as they were made with the best materials available and with Nigeria climate and peculiarity in mind.
