Dep Gov Urges Auditors To Uphold Professional Ethics

Auditors in Ekiti State have been urged to uphold the ethics of honesty, transparency and zero tolerance for corruption to sustain the respect the people have for the profession.

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu gave the charge while receiving the state and local government auditors, led by the State Auditor General, Mr. Adedayo Ajayi  on a courtesy visit to her office in Ado-Ekiti.She noted that auditors play significant roles in curbing fraud and mismanagement of funds among public officers and advised them to remain assiduous, incorruptible and as well do their work without fear or favour.

The Deputy Governor who stressed the need for them to always give professional advice to pubic office holders to avoid inadvertent financial misappropriation and mismanagement added that such preventive measure will reduce financial scandals.

Prof Adelabu said the government of Governor Kayode Fayemi sees auditors as real partners in progress and thanked them for cooperating with the government in blocking loop holes which might be used by unscrupulous officers.

In his remark, the State Auditor General, Mr. Adedayo Ajayi congratulated Prof Adelabu on her appointment as Deputy Governor and prayed that  God would grant her enabling wisdom and strength to perform creditably well in her new office.

Ajayi who explained that the duty of auditors is to ensure accountability, probity and judicious utilization of funds to safeguard the integrity of public office holders, said they are friends and partners in progress to the government.

He assured the Deputy Governor that  auditors in Ekiti State will not compromise the standard and the integrity of their profession in the discharge of their duties.
In a related development, Prof Adelabu has advised widows in the state not allow the death of their husbands destabilize their lives, but to be courageous and face the challenges of life squarely.

She gave this charge while addressing the Association of Widows, Ekiti State Chapter during a courtesy visit to her office in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday.  Quoting from the book of Isaiah 54 : 5, the Deputy governor admonished the widows to take solace in God and take their cares and challenges to him in prayers at all times as God who is the husband of widows will surely not  abandon them but provide their needs.
She promised to discuss their matter with Governor Fayemi and design a means of assisting widows with Micro-Credit scheme that will empower them and make them self reliant and less dependable on others for their livelihood.
The leader of the Widows, Mrs. Omodele Famuyibo congratulated the Deputy Governor on her appointment and thanked her for the warm reception giving to them in her office not minding their old looks.
She also commended the government for the Social Security Welfare Scheme for the elderly which she said some of their members benefit from and prayed God to continue to lead the government aright.
