Ekiti Government Urges Striking Teachers To Exercise Patience

June 8, 2013

Ekiti State Government has called on teachers that are currently on strike in the state to exercise patience and embrace dialogue as
negotiation is on-going with their union leaders.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Kehinde Ojo who made the call in Ado-Ekiti, noted that the state
government recently approved 33% increase in workers’ salaries across the state.

Reiterating government’s resolve to meet their yearnings and ensure adequate provision for the welfare of its entire workforce, Mr. Ojo
assured that government would not deny teachers their entitlements.

He therefore solicited their continued understanding with the present administration in its bid to transform the education sector, assuring that all issues surrounding the 27.5% teachers’ allowances would soon be laid to rest.
