Ekiti CJ Releases 28 Awaiting Trial Prison Inmates

The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodeji Daramola has approved the release of 28 awaiting trial inmates from the Ado Ekiti prison.

Justice Daramola released 16 of the inmates unconditionally, discharged 7 and granted 5 bail during an official visit to the prison. He noted that though the prison was still congested, the number of  awaiting trial inmates has considerably reduced compared to his last visit.
Charging the released inmates to be law abiding and avoid all acts that could put them on the wrong side of the law, Justice Daramola said that no stone would be left unturned  within the ambit  of the law to decongest  the prisons without putting the society in any imminent danger.

He also charged officials in charge of the prison to remain efficient  and effective, noting that the importance of their responsibilities cannot be overemphasised.

Commenting on the development, the State Comptroller of Prison, Alhaji Aremu Tajudeen lauded the efforts to decongest the prison. Alhaji Aremu said that arrangements were on to erect more structures that would enhance the smooth running of the prison.

The released inmates include Ikechuckwu Nnanwoba, Nifemi Apalowo and Adeniyi Kolawole who all expressed gratitude to the state government and pledged to be law abiding.
