Ekiti DGov Tasks Council Bosses On Peace

Local Government Caretaker Chairmen in Ekiti State have been told to ensure peace in their various domains or be held responsible for any breach.

Speaking with the sixteen caretaker chairmen in her office on Tuesday, the state deputy governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu said there cannot be dividends of democracy in an atmosphere of chaos.
She admonished them chief security officers of the various councils to compliment the efforts of Dr. Kayode Fayemi in spreading development to every part of the state to work and replicate the developmental efforts of the governor in the state in their domains.

Adelabu who also implored them to be guided by the details of government’s 8 Points Agenda, added that they should embark only on projects that will have direct positive impact on the lives of the people and remove poverty and sufferings at the grassroots.
She urged them to be innovative by harnessing the peculiar human potentials and natural resources in their domains and utilize them for the development of their areas adding that the government will reward the best three outstanding council chairmen at the appropriate time.

Calling their attention to the various state projects going on in the local government areas, the Deputy Governor told them to see these projects as their own too and ensure that they supervise and check on the contractors handling them from time to time so that quality work that will stand the test of time will be delivered on completion.
She told them not to hesitate to let the government know whatever challenges they have in the discharge of their duties through the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development.

Responding on behalf of the other Caretaker Chairmen, the Chairman of the Association of the Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Ekiti State Chapter, who is also the chairman, Efon Local Government, Dr. Adio Folayan congratulated the Deputy Governor on her appointment and lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi for his uncommon wisdom at putting
people of intelligence and repute in positions.

The ALGON Chairman who thanked the Deputy Governor for her words of admonition which he described as words of wisdom that will motivate them into promised that they will swing into action afresh and pledged their loyalty to Governor Kayode Fayemi and his Deputy, Prof. Modupe Adelabu in their efforts to make Ekiti a place of pride among the comity of states in Nigeria.

In a related development, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu has commended the Caretaker Chairman of Ijero Local Government, Hon. Bode Agbeleye for the various developmental projects he has been able to complete in the area in just hundred days he had spent in office.

The Deputy Governor gave the kudos while commissioning some of the completed projects to mark the Chairman’s 100 days in office. She noted that the projects which included Local Government Website Unit,  NULGE House, Farm Ware House at Odo Owa-Ekiti, and Electricity Transformer at Igbamitoro Street in Ijero Ekiti etc have really showed
him as a reliable and trustworthy grassroots politician.

She also commended him for the purchase of tricycles that were distributed to some people to ease the transportation challenges in the area and for the wheelchairs that were given to the underprivileged disables, adding that all these were in line with the government’s 8 Point Agenda.

While urging the people of the area to give more support to Governor Kayode Fayemi and the chairman so they could enjoy more dividends of democracy,  Adelabu urged other council chairmen to emulate Hon. Bode Agbeleye and let the people at the grassroots feel the impact of the government of the day.
