Eight-Man Committee To Manage Ekiti Early Child Care Development Centres

An eight-member Consultative Committee has been inaugurated by the Ekiti State government to manage the Early Child Care Development Centres across the state. The government established the centre to give children in the state unhindered access to qualitative early education.

Deputy Governor Prof Modupe Adelabu, who inaugurated the committee in her office in Ado-Ekiti, said the essence of constituting the committee was to give the right sense of direction to achieve the goals of giving children a solid foundation in education.

According to her, “early childhood is a time of remarkable brain development that lay the foundation for later learning and once the right foundation is laid at the early childhood, building at higher levels of education will be easier”.

She explained that the state government attached great importance to the early child development project and has therefore carefully considered the membership of the committee to reflect the inter-sectoral nature of the project to enhance its overall success.

The deputy governor, who doubles as the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), charged members of the Early Childhood Care Development Consultative Committee to be assiduous in the discharge of their mandate, assuring of the necessary support of Governor Kayode Fayemi, who she said, places great emphasis on the revival of education in the Land of Honour.

Speaking on behalf of other members after the inauguration, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Kola Ajumobi, lauded the spirited efforts of the Fayemi administration to restore the glory of education, which informed the inauguration of the committee.

Ajumobi, who noted that the government has made the right choice in the membership, said the committee will work assiduously to make the Early Childhood Development Centre project of a huge success.

The Committee is to be chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Eunice Dada.

Other members are: permanent secretaries Mr. Kola Ajumobi (Ministry of Information & Civic Orientation); Mrs. Bimpe Aderiye (Ministry of Education, Science & Technology); Dr. Olufolake Olujobi (Ministry of Health); Mrs. Folake Falore (Primary Health Care Development Agency; Mrs. J. A. Boluwatife (Women Affairs & Gender Empowerment representative) , State Chairman of School Based Committee, Chief Sylvester Adeyanju and the State Chairman of the Parents/Teachers’ Association (PTA), Pastor Isikalu.
