Paucity of funds notwithstanding, the Ekiti State government yesterday restated its commitment to the provision of necessary infrastructures and educational materials in all public schools in its domain to make the learning environment onducive for teachers and pupils.
The state deputy governor, Prof Modupe Adelabu, made the statement at the commissioning of a block of three classrooms and an administrative block at Ilukuno Community Grammar School, Ilukuno-Ekiti, in Ijero Local Government Area of the state as part of activities marking the third anniversary of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Adelabu told her audience that the governor remained passionate about education and human capital development which is one of the Eight-Point Agenda he has been pursuing with vigour since his assumption of office.
The deputy governor, who said the government was really happy that its efforts in the education sector have started yielding expected result going by the brilliant performance of students in national examinations such as WAEC, NECO and NABTEB, commended Ekiti State Community and Social Development Agency (EKCSDA) for its effective collaboration and assistance given to the communities in their core areas of need.
She urged the people of Ilukuno to sustain their support for the administration to enable them enjoy more dividends of democracy.
In his own address, the Eesalokun of Ilukuno-Ekiti, Oba Festus Adebayo Jegede commended Governor Kayode Fayemi for the various laudable developmental projects his administration had executed since assumption of office.
Oba Jegede said the completion and inauguration of the classroom block and administrative building of the Ilukuno Community Grammar School has is a glaring practical demonstration of the governor’s passion for education and determination to ensure that no community, however small, is left out in his developmental agenda.
The monarch also expressed appreciation to the government, EKSCDA and philanthropic individuals from the community who donated and work tirelessly for the timely completion of the project.
