As part of ways to actualize the vision of his administration to make all parts of Ekiti State accessible by motorable roads by 2014, Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on Thursday asserted that all boundary roads leading to the State would be rehabilitated next year.
The Governor made this assertion in Ode Ekiti while flagging off the reconstruction of Agbado-Ode-Isinbode-Omuo road; saying that some of the roads which are in deplorable state would be repaired in order to ensure smooth business transaction between the people of Ekiti State and neighbouring States.
Dr Fayemi who said that the rehabilitation of Agbado-Ode-Isinbode-Omuo road, a road constructed during the General Sani Abacha era, was long overdue for rehabilitation after some parts of the road have become impassable.
“This road is of strategic importance to inter-state road users, particularly Abuja-bound commuters, and it is an alternative route to the Iluomoba –Ikole road which has just been reconstructed and commissioned.
Some portions of this road about to be rehabilitated have failed considerably, especially the Isinbode stretch, leading to the great difficulty of motorists in plying the road”, he said.
While restating that his administration is determined to invest in the provision of crucial infrastructure that will enhance the socio-economic lives of the people, Fayemi his administration will not be deterred by financial constraints in pursuing the people-oriented
programmes.
The Governor who explained that the rehabilitation is expected to be completed within six months disclosed that the project will be contractor-financed because of the confidence reposed in his administration by the contractor.
