Ekiti State Government has reiterated the resolve of the Fayemi led administration to continue using ICT to develop the state.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti at the opening ceremony of a one- day Workshop on budget automation organized by the State Government for Directors
of Administration and supplies, Directors of Finance and Accounts as well as Directors of Planning, Research and Statistics, the State Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning an Service Delivery in Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji explained that the budget process was
designed to successfully realize the 8-point agenda.
Noting that ICT has turned the world into a global village, Mr. Oyebanji stressed the resolve of the state government to take advantage of the technology to improve the lots of the people. He explained that the workshop was organized to capture a cursory look at the Budget formulation, implementation and reporting with a view to automate the process in line with international best practices in Public Financial Management, to introduce the budget automation system as a panacea for efficient and effective public financial management, to ensure that the 2014 Budget is IPPSAS Compliant among others.
The Commissioner implored the participants to make the workshop productive by not only understanding the system but making useful contributions from wealth of experience as a key officer in budget preparation.
Earlier, the permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Sola Folorunso, in his welcome address, said that the workshop is critical to the preparation of 2014 budget. According to him, the broad objectives of 2014 budget is to have an aggressive and sustainable internal revenue generation drive using a pragmatic approach and to complete all on-going capital projects that are central to the 8-point agenda.
