Dipo – Salami Bags 2013 Best Development Initiative Awards

A United Kingdom (UK) based Non-Governmental  Organization, Life Changers Foundation has conferred an award of the 2013 Best Development Initiative on the Special Adviser to the Ekiti State
Governor on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Development Relations, Mrs. Bunmi Dipo-Salami in recognition of her roles at making life more meaningful for the less privileged.
The award recognizes individuals, organizations or civic leaders that have demonstrated positive and tangible impact in improving their immediate environment and development of people particularly the poor and disadvantaged.
Receiving the award, Mrs. Dipo-Salami expressed appreciation to the organizers of the programme and pledged her continued support for efforts at making life more comfortable for disadvantaged men and women.
The Special Adviser who holds a masters’ degree in Development Studies founded Widening Scope for Rights and Development (WISCORD) in 1996 to enhance the capacities of women through research, documentation, capacity building and financial empowerment.
According to her, WISCORD provides women with micro-credit facilities to enable them scale the poverty hurdle and enjoy an improved wellbeing and quality of life, adding that the skills of young women and men especially those in tertiary institutions are developed.
Mrs. Dipo-Salami also established an ICT centre as well as provides a monthly free health services to her Ilupeju-Ekiti community which she tagged “ilera-loro” meaning health is wealth as part of her contributions to government’s effort at meeting the needs of the people.
