Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to creating enabling environment for youths to be gainfully employed.

Responding to requests by communities in Ilejemeje Local Government Area of the State for the employment of their youths into the service of the State Government, the Governor said although government is currently recruiting into the Teaching and Civil Service, it does not have the capacity to absorb all unemployed youths.

Governor Fayemi who stated that more people are being recruited to join the existing 50,000 workforce in the state, asserted the readiness of the present administration in creating an environment where the youths would get alternative employment outside of government establishments.

The Governor explained that government is wooing investors to the State so that the teeming unemployed youth population could also get job opportunities in the private sector.

Fayemi however emphasized the readiness of government to support youths who want to go into small scale businesses and become employers of labour even as it has given support to young entrepreneurs in the State, including Femi Fabiyi, owner of Ekiti Empire Feeds.

While also responding to the water needs of the communities, the Governor assured that when the ongoing all-round maintenance of Ero dam is completed, the 10 local government areas which the dam serves will enjoy potable water supply.

At Ipere Ekiti, the community pleaded with the Governor for the completion of Iludin-Ipere-Ido road which was abandoned by the previous administration, Ipere-Isan road and extension of electricity to new areas in the town.

Fayemi assured that government would include the needs in the proposed budget even as he stated that many of the things requested by the communities are basic things government needs to provide for the citizens.

He stressed that his administration will not shirk in discharging its duties to the people.

The town hall meeting took Fayemi to Eda Oniyo, Iludun, Ipere, Iye, Ijesamodu, Ewu and Ijaro, while the Governor paid a courtesy call on elder statesman and Second Republic parliamentarian, Senator Ayo Fasanmi at Obada Ekiti.
