Ekiti D. Gov. Describes Early Childhood Education as Foundation for Child Development

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu has described Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) as the bedrock of education and development of children.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti at the opening ceremony of a 5-day workshop organized by (UNICEF) on capacity building for Early Childhood Development Education categories, Prof. Adelabu who spoke through a full time member of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Olubunmi Adelugba, stressed the need for knowledgeable and skillful caregiver that is well grounded in child care.
According to her, Ekiti State Government constituted a high powered Integrated Early Childhood Development Consultative Committee (IECDCC) to coordinate the running of ECODE in the state for sustainability.
The Permanent Secretary Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Eunice Dada said the training programme would guarantee provision of adequate care and supervision for children while parents/guardians are at work.
Dr. Dada added that the training when adequately applied on the children would effect a smooth transition of a child from home to the school noting that it would inculcate the child the spirit of enquiry and creativity through the exploration of nature, the environment, arts, music and playing with toys.
Participants promised to utilize the experience gained during the workshop as caregivers to reflect in the life-cycle of the younger ones.
