Ekiti to Celebrate Cooperative Day on November 30

The maiden edition of the Ekiti State Cooperative Day Celebration will hold on Saturday, November 30, 2013.
According to a release from the Office of the State Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Empowerment, the event which is slated to hold at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado Ekiti will be presided over by the State Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi .
The release stressed that the programme was in recognition of the important roles Cooperative Societies play in the economy of the state.
Noting that Cooperative Societies was the second major employer of labour in the state and a veritable platform for members to expand their businesses through the provision of micro credit facilities to their members, the release added that the celebration would further give recognition to the Cooperative Societies in the state.
It further stressed that it will increase the trust and confidence reposed in the present administration in accordance with the dictum ‘reclaiming the trust’ and it would further enhance participatory governance in line with the Agenda one of Dr. Kayode Fayemi led administration.
While wishing the state a happy celebration, and more fruitful years ahead, the release called for more cooperation with the present administration in its bid to move the state forward.
