The office of the Secretary to the State Government Governor’s Office is charged with the following responsibilities.
Assisting and participating in the formation and implementation of government policies
Advising the government on various policy matters
Co-ordinating and monitoring the activities on Ministries, Parastatals and Government Agencies especially on the implantation of government policies and decisions
Dealing with constitution, political and economic matters as may be referred to the Executive
Administrative/Judicial Tribunals and Commissions of Enquiry
Co-ordinating appointments to statutory bodies of Enquiry
National honours and awards
Dealing with petitions and appeals to the Governor from non-public officers
Dealing with matters relating to condition of service of political office holders in the Executive, the Legislature and Judiciary
Promotion good relationship among political office holders in Ministries vis-à-vis Parastatals and Commissions
Co-ordinates security issues in the state and is responsible for interfacing with Federal Agencies.
The Secretary to the State Government is responsible for the supervision of the following Departments and Agencies:
General Administration Department
Cabinet and Special Services Department
Political and Economic Department
State Planning Commission
Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board
Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board
State Independent Electoral Commission
Tertiary Institutions
