Ajimobi, Amosun, Afe Condole With Fayemi

As condolence messages daily roll into the Ekiti State Government House following the death of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s mother, Madam Dorcas Fayemi, the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, his Ogun State counterpart, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and legal icon, Aare Afe Babablola (SAN) were in Ado Ekiti at the weekend to commiserate with Dr. Fayemi.

The Oyo State Governor who signed the condolence register said the death of Madam Dorcas Fayemi was a great loss; saying her wise counsel would be missed.

“Our Mama lived a fulfilled life. We shall miss our wise counsel at all times but we take solace in the fact that she lived a religious life, a fulfilled life and above all she is now resting in the bosom of the Almighty. That for us, gladdens our heart. We pray that her gentle soul rest in perfect peace”, Ajimobi wrote.

The Governor who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Florence Ajimobi also rated Dr. Fayemi high in his developmental drive to transform the State; saying that aside the fact that he has the welfare of the people at heart, he is “first among equal”.

“My message to Ekiti people is that they should ensure that they continue to give support to the Governor of the State who is not only very committed but very assiduous, extremely supportive of the people and he wish all well and to me, with what he has been doing recently you can not but congratulate the people of Ekiti State for having such a Governor. At least he is first among equal,” Ajimobi added.

Also speaking with newsmen during the visit, the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun said the Fayemis as well as people who are close to the deceased would miss the wealth of experience which she used to share with them while alive.

Amosun said: “ Yes we are not happy that Mama has left us, but we have always benefitted from her words of advice. Experience comes with age so Mama lived well. We would have loved to keep benefitting from that fountain of experience but Mama must answer the call of God Almighty. She has gone to do that and we that are left must look at the good things Mama did and develop on it. So we have come to say that on behalf of the good people of Ogun State”.

Governor Amosun also commended Fayemi on the on-going developmental projects in the State; saying that the strides have not only challenged other States but is also good of democracy.

“Even though I am here for something else, I can see that development is going on- roads being done, we even saw traffic lights and everything going on that we too are doing something but this is good. This is a healthy competition; I saw it and I was happy. The roads being constructed and everything. This is good for democracy”, he said.

In his condolence message, legal luminary and Bamofin of Yorubaland, Aare Afe Babalola said his visit to the Governor was to “commiserate and also celebrate with His Excellency on the demise of his mother” and stressed the important role a mother plays in shaping the future of their children.

Aare Babalola described the Fayemi matriarch as belonging to the old generation which usually cared and cater for their male children for no fewer than three years before the child would be weaned from the mother; adding that the present generation lacked the quality because they “wanted to keep fit”.

“Our mothers- my mother, his and the mothers of that time were interested in the progress of their children. It was because of that that I am what I am and I know that it was because of that that he is what he is today. So I pay tribute to him but more really to the mother who nurtured him to such a great height and today by the grace of God he is holding a lofty position in the society and I want others to learn from the life of our mother and of course her son, the Governor of this State in whom I have all the confidence”.

Other visitors at the weekend include legal luminary, Mr Femi Falana, who also said that Madam Dorcas Fayemi lived a fulfilled life and witnessed the success of her children as well as the return of true democracy in Ekiti State.
