Ekiti State Government has emerged winner of the 2014  Alder Top Social Media Brand in the Social Media Icon Government category.

The state was trailed in the category by Lagos State Government and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), which came second and third respectively.

The Alder Social Media Report was put together in 2013 to look at brands that make effective usage of social media in entertainment, Government, Business, Technology, and Culture.

According to Leke Alder of Alder Consulting, this is the first report and the main focus is for it to be an African and a global report that will be used of by all.

The rankings, carried out by Alder Social Media Ranking (ASMR), are results of a public poll and expert rankings of brands which effectively use social media in Nigeria.

According to the agency which is based in Lagos and London, the rankings are from popular and expert perception of the brands, with the popular ranking being the public’s favorites and expert ranking indicating an analytical insight into the actual operations and impact of the nominees on the society.

It is recalled that Ekiti State Government Website, www.ekitistate.gov.ng was last year ranked as the best state government website in Nigeria by the Nigerian Governors Forum.

Meanwhile, the Ekiti State government Youtube channel has been verified. This makes the State’s Youtube platform the only government internet video channel to be verified in Nigeria.

Other brands ranked by ASMR included the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Daystar Christian Centre and The Elevation Church for the Faith Sector; the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS),  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Osun State also joined Ekiti and Lagos States in the government sector ranking, while GTB, UBA and First Bank made the ranking for the banking sector.
