Ekiti State Government has said that the publication of the local government service news magazine titled “Eki roots” will bridge the gap between the third tier of government and people at the grassroots.
The State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi who spoke through the state Head of Service, Mr. Olubunmi Famosaya at the official launching of the publication in Ado-Ekiti said that the magazine would enhance transparency and accountability in governance and boost the confidence of the people in government.
The Governor added that the magazine is also a veritable avenue for feedback mechanism and could be used to feel the pulse of the people at the grassroots and identify their yearnings.
He urged the officials in charge of the magazine to plan ahead and work assiduously to sustain the publication.
Earlier in his address, that Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Chief Ranti Adebisi explained that the focus of establishing the news magazine include dissemination of authentic information which will in turn minimize rumour mongering.
According to him, the magazine is part of conscious efforts to strengthen active participation and symbiotic involvement of both government and the people at the grassroots, stressing that it is a veritable avenue to tap objective ideas, contributions and suggestions from all stakeholders towards addressing the goal of addressing the yearnings of the people.
