Ekiti State Executive Council has approved the contract for the Turn-Around Maintenance (TAM) of Ero Dam Phase 1 at a sum of N1.375 billion.
The State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Tayo Ekundayo who made the known while briefing the press on the outcome of the 7th State Executive Council meeting for 2014, said the contract for the TAM of the dam which has an installed capacity of 104,500,000 liters per day was awarded to Messrs Bi water Nigeria LTD. and the project was expected to be completed within 15 months.
He added that upon completion of the TAM the dam would be able to effectively supply potable water to 9 of 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Commissioner stated that EXCO also approved the a memorandum for the development of the Ekiti State Tourism Master plan.
According to him, the master plan is expected to entail provision of baseline studies as well as techno-economic Surveys preparation of unique tourism organizational structure policies, programmes, projects and growths strategies
He said the Master plan was expected to assist in increasing the state internally Generated Revenue, providing employment opportunities, stimulate millions of transactions of the middle and lower class levels of the populace thereby, improving the quality of life of the people.
The Commissioner disclosed that the Council also approved the selection and appointment of Prince Adebayo Olohuniyo of Ajayi ruling house as the new Obalogun of Ilogun-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area.
He said Council in addition approved the selection of Prince Olubunmi Ogunleye of the Ijala ruling house as the new Onijaro of Ijaro-Ekiti in Ilejemeje Local Government Area.
He stated that EXCO equally approved the selection of three warrant chiefs to perform the roles of king makers in the process of filling the vacant stool of Ojurin of Ijurin in Ijero Local Government Area.
