The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has said the Model Junior Girls Secondary School currently under construction at Isan Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti state will be handed over to the state Government when completed.
A representative of UBEC, Mr. Nelson Oyaigbevwen who made this known during an inspection of the site explained that the school was established to further encourage education of the girl child.
According to Mr. Oyaigbevwen, academic activities are expected to commence in the school at the beginning of the next session in September, assuring that the facilities which are over 95% completed would be handed over to the state Universal Basic Board (SUBED)as soon as the contractors are through with the finishing touches
Urging the state government to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities, the UBEC representative stressed the need for the incoming students and other stakeholders to take advantage of the opportunity presented by the provision of the facilities to educate their girl child.
It would be recalled that about a year ago UBEC handed over the Almajiri Model Nursery primary school at Esun Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area to the state government as part of efforts at raising and sustaining the standard of education in the state.
