June 9, 2014

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has hailed the appointment of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yinka Oyebode congratulated the new Emir on his appointment and urged him to use his new position to expand the horizon of development of his kingdom.

He explained that God has destined Sanusi for the position of emir recalling that the new monarch had always been in the right place at the right time to fulfil divine destiny for his life.

Dr. Fayemi noted that Sanusi was eminently qualified to occupy the position of emir given his parentage, education, professional pedigree, experience in public service, international exposure and capacity to live up to expectation of the people.

According to him, Sanusi’s experience in public service as well as his being a prince in the emirate has prepared the former CBN chief for the office of emir.

He urged the new emir to extend his hands of fellowship to other contestants for the Kano royal seat and to have a large heart to accommodate dissenting views in the discharge of the duties attached to his new status.

Dr. Fayemi said the new royal father would need the support of all shades of opinion in the Kano emirate to succeed as the new custodian of culture and tradition of his people.

The Governor also advised the new emir to always depend on God and carry his subjects along in taking decisions affecting his kingdom to ensure peace, tranquility and overall development.

Dr. Fayemi, however, wished Sanusi a long, prosperous and fruitful reign as Sarkin Kano to continue the good works of his predecessor, the late Ado Bayero.
