Ekiti Doctors under the aegis of the National Association of Government General Medical and Dental Practitioners (NAGGMDP) have expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi for giving attention to the welfare of the medical practitioners in the State.
The doctors who are working with the Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Ministry of Health and the Local Government Service in a letter dated 14th May 2014, thanked Fayemi for the payment of specialist allowance to consultants and the approval of 80% Internal Revenue retention by facilities.
In the letter co-signed by the State Chairman of the Association, Dr Joseph Ogunseye and his Secretary, Dr Ajogbeje, the medical practitioners stressed that the commencement of gratuity and pension payment using 80% consolidated salary is very commendable.
The Association while asserting that the Governor is always ready to meet the yearnings of the workforce urged him to give approval to other issues such as the tax uniformity among health workers.
In another letter, the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has said that the support given to the security agency by the State Government is an exhibition of Fayemi’s “spirit of liberality and egalitarianism”.
The security agency, in a letter dated 21st May 2014 and signed by its State Commandant, Mr Shem Obafaiye said the two patrol vans given to the agency will enhance the mobility of the NSCDC and logistics towards the performance of its mandate.
Obafaiye said the NSCDC has no doubt that the Fayemi-led administration places premium on security since the Governor is a security expert.
“Your Excellency has once again exhibited practically, your spirit of liberality and egalitarianism. This gesture is demonstrated in the receipt today 21st May 2014 of two Fprd Patrol Vans from the State
Government to fulfil your earlier promise of assistance to all organs of Government Agencies in the State from Federal to Local Government levels. This will enhance our mobility and logistics towards the performance of our mandate. We have no doubt that you place premium on security being an erudite of Security and Peace specialist in your academic field of study”, the letter reads.
Meanwhile the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has shown interest in consolidating its relationship with the Ekiti State Government.
The country’s Ambassador in Nigeria, Mr Miguelangel Della Vecchia in a letter addressed to Governor Fayemi said the Venezuelan government “wish for a better and stronger relationship between your esteem government and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela”.
Della Vecchia said the Venezuelan government was impressed by the warmth hospitality offered it by the Government of Ekiti State during the former’s donation of school kits to a primary school in the State.
