February 28, 2012

Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs. Funmi Olayinka has admonished drivers to always obey traffic rules and follow the instructions indicated by the road signs to avoid road accidents which often occur because they neglect these simple regulations.

She gave the caution at a scene of a ghastly motor accident along Ado-Ikere Road where she stopped on her way from an official assignment to sympathize with the relatives of the victims who were at the spot of the accident.

The Deputy Governor who noted that over speeding and lack of consideration for other road users by drivers of heavy trucks who are most of the time fatigued by long journey drive cause most of the road accidents, warned them to change from these bad driving habits.

Mrs. Olayinka prayed for quick recovery for the woman and her son whom, she was told by an eye witness, had been taken to the Federal Medical Center, Ido – Ekiti for medical attention.

Briefing the Deputy Governor, a Road Safety Official at the scene, Miss Ajadi explained that the accident was caused by a trailer driver who over sped and veered to ram into another tanker that was parked near a woman who was roasting yam by the road side.
