The Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Oluwafemi Awe has said efforts are in top gear to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the council.
The Council boss gave this information while addressing Journalists in Igede. Hon. Awe hinted that the decision was in line with the directive of Governor Kayode Fayemi, that councils in the state should take steps to improve on their Internally Generated Revenue.
The Council Boss who also observed that the Internally Generated Revenue of the Local Government was too low expressed the readiness of his administration to block all area of leakages to increase the revenue of the area.
According to him, a committee has been set up to identify areas of leakages and map out strategies to boost the revenue base of the council, adding that all the Council Assistants to the Governor will join the Committee to mobilize people in their various wards to pay their taxes and rates .
He warned the workers of the Local Government against engaging in sharp practices, stressing that his administration will not condone such acts.
Awe who solicited the support of the people of the area called on them to pay their taxes regularly.
