December 5, 2018

Ekiti State Government has presented cash gift to Mrs Aisha Attahiru Abdulquadir, widow of Lance Corporal Attah Abdulquadir, the soldier who lost his life on 24th October 2018 while on duty in Ogotun Ekiti.

Presenting the gift, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, said the gesture was borne out of government’s concern for the survival of the widow and her son following the death of the family’s breadwinner.

The widow was accompanied by her 3 year-old son, Mustapha.

Oyebanji who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Special Services Department, Mrs Olabisi Akindele said Ekiti State Government shared the pains and grief of the deceased’s family and the Nigerian Army; adding that the cash gift was to help the deceased’s wife “start a business and move on”.

The SSG who noted that government appreciated the service of the slain soldier in ensuring security of lives and property along the Ogotun axis where he was stationed, stressed that the Fayemi-led administration would continue to appreciate security personnel for risking their lives to protect the State and its citizens.

Responding, the Brigade Commander of 32 Artillery Brigade Akure, Brigadier General James Ataguba thanked the state government for providing succour for the deceased’s family; stressing that the administration has shown that “it has human feelings”.

Ataguba who was represented by Colonel Uchechukwu Simon said the government’s gesture will encourage all security personnel to put in their best in serving the State.
