Parents of bearing age have again been charged to always plan more on spacing of their children and to have adequate plan in order to give quality life to the children they will bear.
The state commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr Mojisola Yaya-Kolade gave this charge in Ado Ekiti during the donation of some family planning equipment by a supporting partner to the Ministry of Health on family planning Marie Stopes International Organization of Nigeria.
Responding to the gesture, Dr Yaya-Kolade appreciated the organization for donating the items saying the Ministry would use the items judiciously and will give proper account of the use of the items.
“Ekiti state government would embark on educating parents and advertising more on family planning because that is what we are here for and I am sure Ekiti state will soon become a pace setter’s state in the area of family planning”. She said.
Earlier,the Regional Manager of Morie Stopes International Organization of Nigeria, Mr Bimbo Faloye applauded the Ministry for the support received in the time past. He said “the state would have been yanked off during the immediate past administration because of political crisis and unfriendly atmosphere but this has stopped since the inception of Dr Kayode Fayemi,we must thank the state government for this”.
Mr Faloye gave kudos to the commitment of Ekiti state government towards good health of Ekiti people by ensuring good and quality health service delivery. “We have decided to provide all these equipment to Ekiti state as partner to support it’s campaign on family planning and also providing equipment to the already trained service providers in the various facilities”. He said.
Appreciating the organization on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Human Services,the program officer Mrs Kemi Akinleye described the organization as one that has been partnering the Ministry since 2014 when a memorandum of understanding was signed. She said the organization has trained 50 health providers in the state facilities that cut across primary,secondary and tertiary.
Some of the items donated included 107 MSI lud insertion kit, 107 MSI implant kit, 52 cheastie firceps, 35 autoclave among others.
