The Ekiti state Government has offset the Medical bills of over 44 Ekiti residents who are currently undergoing surgical operations on various ailments at the State Specialist and General Hospitals across the state.
The hospital bills which range between ninety thousand and Two hundred thousand naira for each patient was continuation of the free health mission embarked on by the Governor Kayode Fayemi led Administration.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr. Mojisola Yaya-Kolade explained that the exercise was a concluding phase of the free health mission that was done across the state earlier this year.
Dr Yaya-Kolade disclosed that the patients were carefully selected from the referral list collated from the field during the ‘Ulera Ekiti’ free health mission.
“I applaud the Ekiti State Governor ,Dr. Kayode Fayemi and the team of the Ministry of Health for ensuring that Ekiti residents have access to free and quality health care services and make them happy once again. Ekiti people are happy because of the good leadership of Dr Fayemi. She added.
Earlier, the Director of Hospital Services and Training in the Ministry of Health Dr Olusanya Adetoye echoed that the selection of the beneficiaries was without bias or prejudice it is free because it is the follow up of Ekiti State free health.
He charged the people of Ekiti state to always cooperate with the state government and also kudos to fayemi government for bringing free good health services to the doorstep of every Ekiti citizen regardless of their financial capability.
In his remarks, Dr.Olubiyi Olaolu ,a Consultant in charge of Surgery at the State Specialist Hospital Ikere noted that patients were attended to on different ailments such as BPH, Inguinal Hernia,Ganglion, PPV, Breast mass,Uterine Fibroid, Goiter etc are capital intensive especially for the low income individuals living in the state.
Also remarking at the Ifaki General Hospital ,the Chief Medical Director ,Dr Gbenga Olowolafe noted that they had attended to three different cases on both major and minor surgeries which according to him were successful and free of charge.
Appreciating, Mr Olubodun Damilola ,the father of a 3year old boy, Oluwatobi, who underwent surgical operation on PPV expressed deep appreciation to Governor Fayemi for the free health mission follow-up which was extended to his family.
“Governor Fayemi always has a way of making people happy, this is not his first time, i pray that he will still become the president of this country to us better”.He said.
While appreciating the state government for the Kind gesture ,Mr Ademola Adegoke who also underwent surgical operation for Hernia disclosed that the services rendered by the medical team were free of charge.
“I didn’t pay a dime courtesy of our kindhearted governor”.He disclosed.
The patients at Ifaki commended the state government for the kind gesture. One of the patients, Elder James Ojo disclosed that he didn’t pay any money for the major surgery.
The surgery which would take place simultaneously at different facilities like State Specialist Hospital Ikole, Ikere and Ijero, General Hospitals Oye, Emure, Ifaki, Ijan, Efon and Aramoko Ekiti is expected to run for 14 days.
