The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Ekiti State, Mr. Foluso Daramola has assured the staff and students of St. Louis Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti and the Government Special School, Ido-Ekiti that the State Government will assist in the renovation of the hostels and the Administrative block which were destroyed by the
recent rainstorm.
Mr. Daramola made this known during his visit to the schools in Ikere-Ekiti and Ido-Ekiti respectively to access the level of damage caused by the rainstorm.
The Commissioner assured that the State Government would do everything possible to make teaching and learning conducive for staff and students in all public schools across the state.
Mr. Daramola who expressed his happiness and appreciation to God that no life was lost to the rainstorm that ravaged the schools called on schools administrators to plant trees that could serve as wind brakes in the school compounds to prevent future occurrences.
The commissioner also explained that the relevant agency of the Government had been notified and mobilized to move to site and commence the renovation immediately.
In her own remarks, the Principal of St. Louis Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, Mrs. Rhoda Ojo thanked the Commissioner for the government’s swift intervention.
In another development, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Foluso Daramola would on Thursday 13th of June, 2019 hold a meeting with the NUT, AOPSHON, ANCOPSS, PTA , SBMC and other stakeholders in the education sector in Ekiti State.
The meeting is scheduled to hold at the Christ School, Ado-Ekiti by 10.00 am prompt.
Expected at the meeting are five representatives from the State Executive of the NUT, ANCOPSS, AOPSHON, SBMC and PTA Chairmen in each of the Sixteen Local Government Areas, all Area Education Officers as well as all Education Secretaries.
Education Stakeholders are expected to be on their seat by 9:30 am.
