Elder Segun Bankole Table Tennis Competition Held in Grand Style

The fifth edition of Elder Segun Bankole Table Tennis Competition, among Primary School pupils in Ekiti State was held recently in Ado in grand style.

The Sponsor of the programme and one time Head of Service, Elder Segun Bankole expressed delight that his contribution towards complementing efforts of the state government in the area of grassroots sports development had yielded positive results as the competition was successful.

Elder Bankole who appreciated the roles of the State Sports Council and SUBEB for actualizing the vision with him, said his continuous sponsorship  of the competition was to foster love and unity among the youths in the State.

He acknowledged the potentials of one of the products of the competition Tosin Oribamise who is currently the best  Table Tennis player in the Cadet category in Nigeria and commended the resolve of the State government to sponsor the girl on a training course to the United States of America.

The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Chief  Folorunso Olabode and the Chairman of the State Sports Council, Mr Ademola  Adetola both acknowledged the commitment of the sponsor to the development of grassroots sports and appealed to  public spirited individuals and corporate organizations to collaborate with the government to promote sports in the State.

The Girls event  was won by Bello Muiba from Ikere Zone while the Boys event  was won by Balogun Joel from Ado. Cash awards and trophies were presented to the outstanding players at the end of the competition.

Dignitaries at the event include the State  Head of Service, Mr. Bunmi Famosaya , Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Chief  Folorunso Olabode, Chairman Civil Service Commission Chief Afolabi Ogunlayi, a Commissioner in the  state Civil Service Commission, Chief  Sesan Fatoba and a former Permanent Secretary, Sir Kunle Falope. Others are Permanent Secretaries in the Civil Service Commission, Ministry of Youths and Sports and SUBEB, Mr. Sunday Adebayo, Mrs. Desola Oke and Mrs. E.O. Dada respectively and a host of other guests.
