Ekiti State Government has released another 100 million naira for the payment of gratuities arrears to another set of 56 pensioners, beginning with those who retired since May 2013.
The Executive Secretary of Pension Transitional Arrangement Department (PTAD), Mr. Ezekiel Bankole, disclosed this at the flag-off of the Disbursement Ceremony in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr. Bankole commended the Fayemi-led Administration for the regular payment of gratuities and pensions of the retirees, adding that it will assist the pensioners in investing on business that will be of benefit to them.
The Executive Secretary charged them to invest in a business that will not be stressful and avoid transacting businesses with strange persons, adding that they should invest in only businesses they can supervise and personally monitor without putting them in unnecessary stress.
Mr. Bankole emphasized security consciousness is paramount, advising them against giving their Account details to anyone, like their BVN Number and ATM Number and prayed that God grants them wisdom to spend the money judiciously.
The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Ekiti State Chapter, Elder Ayo Kumapayi, lauded the effort of the present Administration in the state for approving the release of the sum 100million naira monthly to pay arrears of gratuities and regular payment of pensions monthly.
The Chairman, who was represented by the Secretary of the Union, Comrade Agbaje Azeez, said the retirees should not engage in stressful businesses detrimental to their health.
Some of the beneficiaries, Mr. Falua OIusegun and Mrs. Comfort Ayeni appreciated the Fayemi-led Administration for prompt payment of gratuities, arrears and regular payment of pension.
They appealed to the State Government to ensure the program continues.
