The Ekiti State Environmental Task Force has arrested two persons for committing open defecation offense.
The Task Force arrested Agric Olope and Atikankan areas of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital at the early hour of Tuesday.
Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon Gbenga Agbeyo, condemned the recalcitrant attitude of some people who still engage in open defecation amidst the current coronavirus pandemic.
Agbeyo who frowned at the act warned the people against such behaviour adding that Mobile Court is now on the ground and will start going round to prosecute offenders without any delay.
He said that Ekiti State Government has zero-tolerance for open defecation as the Ministry has strengthened the operation of the Task Force to enhance their performance.
The Ministry boss stressed the commitment of the present administration to providing a conducive and healthy environment for the people to avert the outbreak of epidemics.
The Commissioner advised the people of the State to embrace the policy of one house, one toilet as a way to curtailing the spread of Covid-19 and prevent other epidemics in the state.
