Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has congratulated Chief Johnson Oladeji Adegbite, the pioneer Registrar of Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University) Ado- Ekiti as he turned 80 years old today, August 8th, 2020.
In a congratulatory message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode, Governor Fayemi said Chief Adegbite had lived a life worthy of emulation both as a community leader and an accomplished administrator.
The Governor who stated that the Ado- Ekiti born historian belongs to a generation of Ekiti Elders who are passionate about the development of the State, described Adegbite as an illustrious son of the Land of Honour, a dynamic leader and a patriot who served his fatherland diligently and made Ekiti proud through numerous feats he achieved.
Dr Fayemi hailed the contributions of Chief Adegbite to both State and national development, noting that he had served meritoriously in many top management positions including being the pioneer Registrar of Ondo State University ( now Ekiti State University), Ado Ekiti, and chairman of the Committee of Registrars of Nigerian Universities in 1993.
He added that Adegbite proved himself a thoroughbred Ekiti man during his stint as an Assistant Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defence, Lagos; as a member of the Federal Character Commission where he represented both Ondo and Ekiti State and when he served on the Presidential Visitation Panel to the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa in 2001, among other positions.
“I am particularly proud of your exemplary life of brilliance, excellence, and distinction as one of Ekiti icons who have made a tremendous impact on the State and the nation as a pathfinder in several ways. There is no iota of doubts that you have excelled in your chosen career and as a community leader. The younger generation has so much to learn from your diligence, patriotism, and commitment to excellence”.
“On this occasion of your 80th birthday, I on behalf of the government and the good people of Ekiti State wish you long life and good health as you continue to be a shining light on the path of honour”, the governor said.
