Ekiti Residents urged to take Ownership of Projects

Ekiti State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Femi Ajayi has urged the people of the state to take ownership of the various Ekiti State Social Community Development Agency (EKSDA) projects around them.

The Commissioner made the plea while monitoring the EKSDA projects across the state.

Ajayi who said that the monitoring became necessary to ascertain the level of completion of the projects, described the monitoring visit as part of routine checks of the Ministry.

The Commissioner commended the communities for spending the money given to them by government judiciously and urged them to always maintain the projects to enhance durability and enable them get maximum benefit from the projects.

At Oke-Ijagun in Ilawe-Ekiti, where a Community Multipurpose Centre was built, people of the area who could not hid their feelings trooped out to welcome the Commissioner with songs, eulogizing the State Government for the good gestures.

Speaking on behalf of residents in the community, Mrs. Grace Jombo, Mr. Ojo Dele and Mrs. Adeyemi Funmilayo commended the State Government for releasing funds to construct the projects and called for the establishment of biscuits industry in the town considering the availability of bananas in the area.

Also at Ise-Ekiti where a Community Hall and Special Needs Ward were built for the vulnerable, a leader of the group, Mr. Temitope Kayode who appreciated the state government called for more assistance to enable them embark on entrepreneurship and vocational training that will make them self-reliant and economically buoyant.

Other projects inspected are: Newly constructed borehole system and renovation of Health Centre at Ibeju Shittu in Emure-Ekiti; on-going bridge construction in Ikere-Ekiti among others.
