Environment Commissioner Charges Landlords on Sanitation

Ekiti State Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Barrister Paul Omotoso has charged Landlords and Owners of business premises in the State to provide toilet facilities and other conveniences in their buildings to enhance cleanliness and proper sanitation.

Barrister Omotoso gave the charge while on a routine inspection of Ori Apata and Dallimore areas of Ado Metropolis to monitor the environmental situation of the areas.

The Commissioner who frowned at the way residents of the areas visited litter the environment with refuse and uman waste , said that the State Government would sanction Landlords whose houses lack basic toilet facilities while environmental offenders would also be prosecuted.

Omotoso also urged people to desist from dumping waste in the drains to forestall flooding and environmental pollution. According to him, people should regularly clean their environment

instead of waiting for the routine monthly environmental sanitation days, stressing that Environmental and Health officers would always be out on routine inspection.
