Sport Council Chairman Commends Sports Co-ordinators in South West Zone 2

The Chairman of Ekiti State Sports Council, Mr Ademola Adetola has commended  the Unity of purpose  existing among the Sports co-ordinators in the South-West Zone 2 which is aimed at improving the quality of sports in the zone.

Mr. Adetola gave the commendation in Ado at a one-day seminar organised by the zone for sports organisers including Association Chairmen and Secretaries from Ondo, Osun and Ekiti States.

He reiterated the support of Governor Kayode Fayemi to Sports in Ekiti State, adding that facilities at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium have been upgraded  to make it one of the choice stadia for the National Premier League competitions.

The Chairman said he was of the opinion that the gathering would cement the harmonious  relationship among the states and create an avenue to rub minds on areas of sports development.

Declaring  the seminar open on behalf of the Ekiti State Commissioner for Sports, Chief  Folorunso  Olabode, the sports council Boss charged the participants to avail themselves of the opportunity to channel a new course for sports to grow in the Zone, particularly at the grassroots.

Contributing, the Zonal Sports coordinator, Mr. Peter Nelson said that the National Sports commission has created six additional Zones in the interest of grassroots sports deployment out of which the South-West Zone 2 became one of the beneficiaries.

Mr. Nelson decried the poor outing of athletes from the Zone in thelast sports Festival at Port-Harcourt which the need to brainstorm of the way forward.

He however urged Sports administrators  to treat Sports issues with urgency in the interest of Sports development.

Two papers were presented at the occasion namely Marketing and sponsoring Drive in Sports with particular reference to South-West Zone 2 presented by Mr. Patrick Omo-Osagie while the second paper titled Roles and Functions of Association Chairmen was delivered by Mr. Peter Nelson.
