One of the key strategic initiatives of Governor Oyebanji administration is the proactive plan to reform the safety, security and emergency management architecture of the State to boost growth and development as well as the general well-being of the people. Inspired by the Governor’s visit to the Lagos State Emergency Management Services (LASEMA) premises, LOGIC CITY FLEET SERVICES LIMITED, the same consultant that advised on LASEMA’s reorganization was commissioned to conduct a scoping study of Ekiti State’s Security, Safety and Emergency Services. The study involved a comprehensive review of existing policies, procedures, infrastructure, and capabilities across various agencies responsible for maintaining public safety and responding to emergencies within a state, identifying key strengths, weaknesses, gaps in service, and areas for potential improvement, while also considering the broader context of local risks and vulnerabilities.

Upon completion and presentation of the study, Governor Oyebanji set up a committee to review the report and submit a White Paper for Government consideration. The report highlighted the strengths and challenges of the current system and proffered actionable initiatives to enhance operations and empower public servants in the delivery of quality services. However, considering the substantial financial requirements for implementation, the committee phased the implementation into three stages, commencing in January 2025.
