Ekiti Public Service Enabled To Implement Oyebanji Citizens-Centered Policies – HOS Olomojobi

Ekiti State Head of Service, Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi has assured that the State Public Service has been enabled to implement Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s citizens-centred policies aimed at improving service delivery and increasing people’s satisfaction.

Speaking during a peer review meeting of Accounting Officers comprising Permanent Secretaries, General Managers and Executive Secretaries in Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Olomojobi stressed that the Public Service has been provided an enabling environment to achieve Government’s target.

Olomojobi therefore called on the accounting Officers to remain diligent and committed in the task of entrenching good behavior and practices that would continue to promote a harmonious and productive environment, adding that the focus is to successfully implement government programmes and activities as well as restore nobility in the Public Service.

Highpoint of the interactive session was the presentation of activities from the State Ministry of Works, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development which are four of the MDAs that are directly responsible for implementing government policies and programs.

In his presentation, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Mr. Ganiyu Ibrahim Titilope enumerated and categorized the various road projects in the State into four including ongoing or projects initiated by previous administration; Federal road projects that have long been awarded and abandoned; as well as inter and intra-town roads within Ekiti State awarded by the BAO led administration.

Mr. Titilope said the present administration has completed and commissioned fourteen roads since inception, adding that sixteen other road projects have reached various levels of completion with twelve other roads in the pipeline.

According to him, the roads were strategically designed to make life more comfortable for People in the State and serve as incentives to social- economic development.

In his own submission, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Ojo, highlighted the massive strides of the present administration in the Agricultural sector to include free land clearing project, distribution of subsidized farm inputs, mechanized Agriculture and distribution of improved seeds to Farmers across the State.

Mr. Ojo added that Government also encouraged and empowered Fish Farmers across the State, Constructed of hostels/dormitories in farm settlements under the “Bring Back Youth to Agriculture (BBYA), carried out mass vaccination of livestock against Anthrax, allocated land to Farmers and paid compensation on land acquired by Government for agricultural purposes among others.

The Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Mr. Tunde Balogun presenting the activities and achievements of his Ministry, listed activities carried out by his Ministry to include daily routine sanitary inspection of regulated premises, fumigation of Government dumpsites, monitoring and supervision of weekly market Sanitation, establishment and operation of standard meteorological station at Ekiti State Cargo Airport, recruitment of ninety environmental Health Officials, Dredging of major river courses at eleven different locations from January 2023 till date across the State as well as regular and proper waste collection and management across Ado-Ekiti metropolis and beyond as major milestones.

Noting that State Government’s huge investment in manufacturing Dino bins locally had kick-started a Waste Management revolution Mr. Balogun said that 40 Dino bins and Waste Disposal trucks have been acquired and distributed to strategic locations, adding that the procurement of Dino bins and vehicles is a continuous process and still on-going while the recycling operations going on at the waste dumping sites has started successfully converting plastic waste to pellets thus turning waste to wealth.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Ayodele Borode, in his presentation, emphasized the importance and positive impact of the proposed modern “Central Business District” to the over-all development of the State.

Describing the efforts of the BAO administration as laudable, Mr. Borode listed the benefits accruable to include nipping the challenges associated with slum and security in the bud, boosting commercial activities to create employment opportunities, enhance accessibility for commercial/economic growth, job creation, urban development and infrastructure boost as well as improved tourism, hospitality and entertainment.

He emphasized that the development of a modern Central Business District in Ado presents significant opportunities and serves as a catalyst for major economic growth, strategic security enhancement and vast infrastructural development, adding that the project is however a Public/Private partnership arrangement.

He said “the development is private sector driven with the State Government paying over N300million compensation to land owners in the affected area and provide policy direction”.

“This project will position Ado-Ekiti as a key urban and economic hub within the region”.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information Mr. Olusesan Alabi described the interactive session as unique, stating that it was not only impressive but also an eye opener to the various giant strides of the present administration.
