June 7, 2012

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has approved the release of a sum of Twelve Million and Eighty Five Thousand Naira (N12.85m) as
the 3rd instalment of loans to farmers under the Peasant Farmers Development Programme.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Babajide Arowosafe made this known while speaking with Journalists in his
office in Ado Ekiti.
Mr. Arowosafe said the fund was meant for the second set (425) of Peasant Farmers across the sixteen Local Government Areas of the State, adding that the fund would go a long way to boost farming and other agricultural activities this farming season.
While thanking Governor Kayode Fayemi for throwing his weight behind the development of agriculture in the State, the Commissioner said the state was expecting bountiful harvest in 2012, saying it was the plan of the present administration to make Ekiti State a food basket of the nation.
Mr. Arowosafe used the forum to call on Peasant Farmers in the State who are ready to go into Oil palm and Cocoa farming to apply to the General Manager, Farm Settlement and Peasant Farmers Development Programme for immediate supply of seedlings.
