Ekiti To Benefit From Sustainable Water And Sanitation Organisation’s Intervention

Efforts of the Ekiti State Government  in the water sector has received a boost as the state is one of the 5 states in the country to benefit from the intervention in urban water supply.
The other states are Borno (North East), Kastina (North West) Rivers (South- South) and Ebonyi (South- East)

The urban water supply intervention is put together by the Sustainable Water and Sanitation Organisation for Africa based in Nairobi Kenya.
The Organisation which is already working in some states of the Federation will commence a -14 – day assessment tour of water projects Ekiti in July 2012.
The Special Adviser TO Ekiti State Governor on Infrastructures and Public Utilities, Mr. Kayode Jegede has described the move as ‘’very significant to the provision of quality and affordable water’’ to every household in the State.
Mr. Jegede assured Ekiti indigenes that the four dams in the State will work at full Capacity while the rehabilitation of various boreholes and hand pumps are on-going. He however stressed the importance of community involvement and participation in government policies, programmes and projects to
achieve mutual benefit.
