Members of the Gauteng Legislature in the Republic of South Africa will from Sunday June 17, 2012 pay a working visit to Ekiti State.
A statement by the Clerk of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Mr. Akintunde Famoyegun says the delegation will be led by the Gauteng Speaker, Lindiwe Maseko. The members of the Gauteng Legislature will be in Ekiti State for about five days.
A special plenary session will be conducted by the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Monday June 18, 2012 with the Gauteng Speaker addressing the House.
The Gauteng Speaker will also perform the official opening of the Civil Society Liaison office at the Assembly complex in Ado Ekiti.
Guateng Speaker, Lindiwe Maseko will be delivering a public lecture titled “10 years of democracy in South Africa; opportunities, Challenges and lessons for Nigeria” at the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti on Tuesday June 19, 2012 at 11.00 am.
A meeting with Civil Society Organisation on enhancing public participation in the lawmaking process will also take place on Wednesday June 20, 2012.
It would be recalled that members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly had in November, 2011 paid a working visit to South Africa where a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two legislative houses
