Ekiti State Government has set machinery in motion for the award of contracts for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 16 intra-township roads in Ado, the State Capital. This was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Mr. Sola Adebayo while addressing newsmen in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr. Adebayo who said that the Fayemi Administration was committed to the overall development of the State through the provision of Infrastructure and other Social amenities noted that the bad condition of roads in the state before the advent of the present administration was as a result of neglect and shoddy jobs done by past administrations.
The Commissioner explained that this informs the massive road works currently going on in all parts of the State which has turned the State into a heavy construction site.
According to him, efforts of government in this direction are geared towards making the State an haven for investors and tourists.
While advising motorists to drive carefully and be patient while driving on the roads undergoing rehabilitation because of the movement of heavy equipment, Mr. Adebayo appealed to residents of the State to bear with Government noting that the construction works which are partially disrupting free flow of traffic will ultimately engender smoother roads..
He highlighted the roads to be rehabilitated to include; Mobil – Irona, Ben Folarin-Isato-Okeoriomi, Old Governor’s Office-Okesha Round-about, Okeoriomi- Aremu, Ola Oluwa – Omisanjana, Oke-Ila – Idolofin, Stadium – Dallimore and Okeyinmi –St Andrews – Oke ila- Housing Corporation.
