The leadership of Ekitiparapo and the Ekiti State chapter of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) have hailed Governor Kayode Fayemi over his award as “Governor of the Year” by the Leadership Newspapers, describing the award as timely and well deserving.
Governor Fayemi was invested as Leadership Governor of the Year 2011 at a colourful ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday. Other prominent Nigerian that were also honoured included a former Defence Minister, Lt.Gen Theophilus Danjuma,(Person of the Year), Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal (Politician of the Year) and Business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote (Business Person of the Year).
Ekitiparapo, Lagos, in a statement signed by its President Chief Kola Akomolede and Secretary, Comrade Niyi Oyeniyi said the award was in recognition of the demonstrated commitment of the Governor to the overall development of Ekiti State as well as the diligence and forthrightness with which he conduct the affairs of government in the state.
The group said it was convinced that has done a lot to deserve the honour as “Governor of the Year, adding that Fayemi was on track of writing his name in gold in the heart of ekiti people, given the various developmental strides and people-oriented programmes embarked upon by the Governor.
The statement reads in part: “On behalf of the entire members of Ekitiparap Lagos, we wish to congratulate you for the award of “Governor of the Year 2011” This award, we are convinced is as a result of your total commitment, diligent and forthrightness in conducting the affairs of governance in our dear state, Ekiti State.
“Those who know the importance of tomorrow always work hard for tomorrow to know them; You are very much on track of writing your name in gold in the heart of Ekiti people. We pray that God Almighty will continue to enrich you with wisdom that will leverage you better in terms of quality and quantum of service delivery during your tenure in office”.
In s similar vein, the CNPP, in a statement signed by its chairman, Prince Tunji Ogunlola and made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, said the Governor deserves accolades for sterling qualities at developing the state.
He said the Conference is of the opinion that Governor Fayemi has done well on human development, infrastructure, education, tourism and social security scheme, adding that the governor has “practically proved beyond any reasonable doubt that his election into the exalted position was not a mistake”
The CNPP also passed a vote of confidence on Governor Fayemi and charged him to continue with his eight-point agenda to reposition and transform the state.
